Senior Engineer – Mechanical Engineering

Location: Farmington Hills, Michigan USA

In the role of Senior Engineer – Mechanical Engineering, you’ll be responsible for providing project leadership to successfully deliver your own projects, as well as supporting those of others. You’ll support the wider engineering team, ensuring they are developing skills and capabilities that grow them and the function as a whole.

You’ll be operating in a fast paced project environment, needing technical, commercial and customer management skills whilst collaborating with some of the most innovative people, companies, and technologies on the planet. What you will need

You will have:

  • A Bachelor‘s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • A minimum of 5 years of automotive transmission design and or analysis with technical responsibility of product
  • First principle understanding of physics involved in transmission or motor design
  • High standard of competency in transmission or motor design & CAE analysis
  • Experience of the design and analytical requirements of various transmission architectures
  • Knowledge of a driveline design and analysis package (MASTA, Romax, Kissoft)
  • Demonstrable experience of designing transmissions or motors using CAD and producing engineering drawings for production.

Key Responsibilities

You will be:

  • Technically lead projects to design and analyse electrified propulsion systems
  • Utilise state of the art simulation techniques to either design transmission systems, driveline systems or electric machines
  • Utilize our world class CAE tool chain to solve the challenging engineering problems we face, and actively identify and implement initiatives and opportunities to improve our design and analytical processes quality and efficiency
  • Be flexible and willing to take technical responsibility for design projects of a broad variety in both content and value – responsibility dependant on level of experience
  • Demonstrate a high level of aptitude along with the ability to determine innovative solutions to the numerous design challenges which present themselves during a typical design project
  • Commercially manage projects and customer relationships to ensure a positive outcome for both our customer and the company
  • Occasional work on site at client offices expected
  • Have a thorough understanding of the commercial aspects of a consultancy business and the ability to present technical design elements to a customer
